  • 1 Day 1: Day 1 Riverside BBQ

Welcome aboard. Your journey begins as PS Emmylou departs from Echuca, gently gliding along the mighty Murray River. Settle into life on board with a traditional afternoon Devonshire tea, served as the scenery unfolds—majestic river red gums, birdlife, and tranquil waters setting the tone for the days ahead. Spend time getting to know your fellow travellers or visit the wheelhouse for a chat with the skipper, who will share stories of Emmylou’s unique wood-fired heritage and her place in paddle steamer history. Or simply retreat to your private cabin and ease into holiday mode.

As the day draws to a close, Happy Hour begins in the saloon. Sip on a local wine or craft beer as the sky transforms into shades of gold and rose. Soon, Emmylou arrives at her Layfield Lane mooring, where a truly special evening awaits.

Enjoy a grand Australian BBQ dinner on the riverbank, with tables aglow under candlelight and stars overhead. Relax by the campfire with live entertainment and warm company, soaking in the peaceful ambiance of the bush as your first day on the river comes to a magical close.

  • 2 Day 2: Day 2 Heritage, Wine & River Reflections

Start your day with a hearty breakfast aboard PS Emmylou before stepping ashore for a truly memorable half-day land and river tour. Your first stop is the uniquely Australian Great Aussie Beer Shed & Heritage Farm Museum—a quirky and fascinating collection showcasing over 20,000 pieces of memorabilia, from vintage beer cans and iconic advertising to historic farming equipment. It’s a lively, nostalgic look at Australian culture and ingenuity.

We then head to the award-winning St Anne’s Winery for a delicious lunch paired with tastings of their exceptional table and fortified wines. Meet the winemakers and savour the best of regional hospitality in a picturesque setting.

Return to Emmylou in the afternoon as she continues her journey downstream toward Deep Creek Marina. As evening falls, relax on board with a special screening of “Riverboats Remembered”, an evocative documentary featuring archival footage that brings the rich history of the Murray River and its paddlesteamers to life.

  • 3 Day 3: Day 3 Scenic Cruising and sunset Farewell

Today marks the final day of your unforgettable three-night cruise aboard PS Emmylou, as we journey upstream from Deep Creek Marina back to the historic Port of Echuca.

Settle in for a relaxing full day of cruising, taking in the ever-changing Murray River scenery. As we glide gently along the river, keep an eye out for the abundant local wildlife—kangaroos, birdlife, and riverbank activity—best enjoyed from the deck or saloon as you savour a leisurely lunch served on board.

The return journey offers a peaceful opportunity to reflect on your time aboard, with the river revealing new perspectives as we travel upstream toward Echuca.

As evening approaches, enjoy dinner while cruising into the iconic Port of Echuca, where the charm of the historic wharf comes to life. Upon arrival, the celebrations continue with a fun and social poetry and quiz night—an enjoyable way to conclude your river experience alongside fellow travellers.

It’s the perfect finale to your Murray River journey, combining relaxation, scenery, and a touch of friendly competition to end your cruise on a high note.

  • Cruise Reviews

I always wanted to cruise on a paddlesteamer and we travelled a long way to do it but we just loved it. It was beautifully cosy with just a handful of other guests and the scenery was magical, especially the mist in the morning and the sunsets at the end of the day. And the hospitality from the friendly staff onboard was just fabulous. Kym & Rodd

This was my fourth cruise on Emmylou this year and I’ve got two more booked this December and next year,” boasts Philippa, ( fourth from the left) one of Emmylou’s biggest fans. “I travel on my own and I just love what Emmylou offers. The staff are remarkable and the other guests are always so friendly and the whole experience on the river is so interesting and relaxing. I love it so much I’d love to work on the boat!” Phillipa

Our cruise on Emmylou was somewhat of a pilgrimage for us as we’ve always been fascinated by the Murray and the steamboats on it and we finally did a paddle steamer cruise last month and can I say it was probably the best trip we’ve ever done in a long while. This was such a special experience, more so from the exceptional staff who couldn’t do more for you to make you relaxed and comfortable. The staff and our fellow passengers were all so friendly – it was more like one big happy family. We loved it! Tom & Margaret

My brother & I did a 4-night cruise, which included 2 days of shore excursions. One was to a winery and the other was an informative small boat (10M) cruise through the “Murray Choke”, both excursions were excellent. There was a total of 15 passengers so one did not feel lost in the crowd. The day could be spent either chatting to other guests, or, finding a quiet spot and enjoying the view, bird calls, and wildlife. The cabins were compact (small to medium case only) but warm and comfy with their own en-suite. The meals were excellent with a choice of menu for most meals. The BBQ and sing-along on the last night was a hoot or toot. The atmosphere on the cruise was very relaxing, helped by the slow pace of the Murray, the rhythmic muffled splash of the paddle wheels, and the mesmerizing action of the circa 1906 steam engine. This was a new cruising experience that I would thoroughly recommend. Phillip

One can only describe this 3 day Emmylou cruise as fantastic. Professional staff, excellent food. A highlight for me was the BBQ on the banks of the Mighty Murray River. Well done. Put it as a must-do. dianjob69

The crew was great, very attentive, and couldn’t do enough. Watching the old steam engine work away was fascinating. The speed of the paddle steamer allowed you time to enjoy the Murray River. The food was very good and you didn’t leave hungry. Our cabin was small but manageable and the bathroom was fine. Very enjoyable cruise. Robert C
