Come aboard one of the most recognisable and iconic paddle steamers in Australia and the world’s only cruising wood-fired paddle steamer, The PS Emmylou. This is one of Australia’s most luxurious boutique river cruises, departing from Echuca. You can choose from a two to six-night Murray River Cruise and let PS Emmylou take you back to the romantic days of cruising paddle steamers.
The PS Emmylou has starred in the TV series All the Rivers Run, where she was renamed the PS Providence. This unique vessel is powered by a beautifully restored 1906 steam engine by Marshal and sons and is now the only wood-fired paddle steamer in the world offering overnight stay river cruises.
This paddle steamer has a side wheel making it distinctly Australian and takes us back to the good old days of the paddle steamers along the Murray River and is now an Australian icon of the Mighty Murray. The boat was built during the early ’80s in the local area and harked back to the 19th-century paddle steamers and sits perfectly at home at the world heritage Port of Echuca Moama located in northern Victoria. The PS Emmylou is 30 metres long and 10 metres wide, with a steel hull and a beautiful timber deck. It has since undergone a specially designed luxury upgrade and a completely new fit-out. The new modern cabins are ideal for a night cruise. All places offer en-suites, including the best linens topped with silky duvets, and there is also a premier cabin, the Emmylou Suite, located on the front Upper Deck. This suite features French Doors opening to a deck and 180-degree views of the river. On board this small boat boutique cruise, you will enjoy cruising the Murray River at its finest with only 16 guests comfortably accommodated in one of the eight deluxe cabins. In addition, you have the option of a lunch or dinner cruise.
