The Paddle Steamer Murray Princess departs Renmark on Friday 22 December 2017 at 3.30pm. Those who are self driving, will need to drop off your car at Mannum by 11am and the coach transfer will depart Mannum at 11.30am and arrive in Renmark at approximately 2.00pm. Unfortunately no transfers are available back to Renmark on the conclusion of this cruise in Mannum. For those taking the free coach from the Adelaide CBD your departure time will be 10.00am from the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel at 125 North Terrace, Adelaide.
The Murray Princess returns to Mannum at 9.00am. Those returning to Adelaide via the free coach will be dropped back at the Mercure Grosvenor Hotel between 12 noon - 12.30pm and the same coach will do a second drop off at the Adelaide Airport at 1.00pm.

Mid-afternoon your Paddle Steamer departs historic Renmark, located in South Australia’s Riverland region, and cruises under the Paringa Bridge. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon cruising down river through the first of five locks you will encounter on this cruise down to Mannum. Sit back and enjoy your Murray River Cruise as your boat cruises to your overnight mooring at Rumpagunya Creek. on the way down the river you may see lots of wildlife along your Murray River cruise including grey kangaroos, hair-nosed wombats, Murray River long necked tortoises and spoon-beaked echidnas. Your resident on-board entertainer provides music tonight whilst you have pre dinner drinks followed by a welcome dinner.
Your Murray River Cruise will depart Rumpagunya Creek early morning & navigate through Lock 4 and the Kamikaze Flats. After lunch you will arrive at the township of Loxton where you will step back in time at The Village. Here the stories are told of the region’s early settlers and their families, displayed in over 45 recreated buildings and exhibits on the banks of the mighty Murray River. Your Paddle Steamer will then depart Loxton late afternoon and cruise down river to Morook for your overnight anchorage. After dinner, be treated to a special excursion to the Christmas Loxton Lights Festival. See Loxton shine with thousands of twinkling fairy lights, bright colourful banners and large clusters of residential streets decorated with over 350 illuminated Christmas scenes, paintings and colored light displays. Wander the shopping precinct and soak up the atmosphere of the festive season.
Sunday (Christmas Eve)
This morning your Murray River Cruises Paddle Steamer will cruise towards Kingston-on-Murray where you will visit the Cobdogla Irrigation and Steam Museum, the home of Australia’s ‘Big Thumper’ Humphrey Pump. The world’s only working Humphrey Pump has been caringly restored and is demonstrated along with steam and diesel locomotives, steam traction or ploughing engines, oil engines, tractors and machinery from the early development era of the Irrigation Areas. During lunch, your Paddle Steamer Murray Princess will navigate the 3rd lock on her journey on the way to Overland Corner. Take a guided tour of Overland Corner and find out why it was a convenient watering place and camp site for the overlanders and drovers operating between New South Wales and the colony based in Adelaide in the early years of the 1800s. The Overland Corner Hotel has been restored by the National Trust of South Australia and has so many tales to tell. This evening, enjoy your Murray River Cruises on-board entertainment.
Monday (Christmas Day)
Merry Christmas everyone! Wake up Christmas morning to experience the magic of a Murray River Cruise aboard the lovely Murray Princess by participating in a tender boat ride through the Banrock Station Wetlands. Delight in some Christmas festivities with a traditional Christmas Day lunch and celebrations. Take in the tranquility as the landscape slides by as your Murray River cruise boat passes the picturesque town of Waikerie. This afternoon, enjoy the music of Christmas Carols in a fun sing along as your Paddle Steamer cruises down river to an old distillery. After dinner, enjoy being entertained by the Murray Princess Christmas Concert.
Mid-afternoon the paddle wheeler sets sail again from Mannum where you can take time to relax as the paddle boat cruises up the mighty Murray River allowing you to enjoy pre-dinner drinks. During the evening the Murray River boat will cruise under floodlight to an overnight mooring on the Murray River at Caurnamont. Keep your eyes peeled on the Murray River bank as you may see nocturnal wildlife including grey kangaroos, hair-nosed wombats, Murray River long necked tortoises and spoon-beaked echidnas. Settle in for a night's entertainment by an on-board entertainer who will provides music for those of you who wish a late night.
Tuesday (Boxing Day)
This morning your cruise boat will negotiate Lock 2 before securing at Caudo Vineyard where you can enjoy cellar door tasting's and a tour of the gardens and orchards. This afternoon the boat will again be secured at Morgan where you can hop ashore to see this historic town. During the 1800’s, Morgan was the home port of hundreds of paddle steamers which carried cargo and passengers up the Murray-Darling River system. The restored wharf precinct captures the early river trading days and the town’s museums bring to life the stories of the paddle steamer era. Delight in a fascinating guided walk of the township and Morgan’s three historical museums. This evening, join the Captain for pre-dinner drinks (own expense) and after dinner, enjoy the on-board entertainment.
Daybreak and time for the keen photographers to be out to capture the special light and the morning movement of wildlife. Prolific bird life includes pelicans, wrens and swans. Enjoy a leisurely morning and lunch cruising down river through Lock 1. This afternoon your Murray River cruise boat will moor at Sunnydale and it’s all ashore for the Woolshed Show as we recreate typical Australian woolshed history. Later you can visit the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia’s most interesting native animals are cared for. Then of course, there is the great Aussie Barbecue – cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River. An optional Nocturnal tour in a comfortable purpose built cart is available after dinner where you may see kangaroos, wombats, foxes, bats and owls (additional cost).
After an optional Bush Tucker Breakfast (additional cost) or a bush walk with the Captain, your Paddle Steamer will slowly cruise down river past magnificent cliffs scoured by the river over millions of years. Next point of interest will be the Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve, one of Australia’s most significant archaeological sites, for a step back in time – tens of thousands of years – for a guided boardwalk tour to view ancient rock carvings and to learn about aboriginal history in the area. You and your fellow passengers will then return to the vessel to cruise down river to River View Lodge (near Piggy Flat / Coolcha). Along the way, enjoy a special presentation and tasting of the bounty of food and wine produced in the Riverland or inspect the wheelhouse with the Captain. Tonight the Captain and his officers host a spectacular Farewell Captain’s Buffet Dinner. Dress up and dance, if you wish.
